I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

He may not know how to play, so you may need to teach him.

Hi and Welcome to TCS

how long have you had him for? How was he like at the place you got him from and where did he come from? Has he been eating or drinking? Using the litter box? How much does he weigh- are you sure he's 9 week old and not younger?
I don't think this is normal- if I were you I'd take him to the vets asap.
regards,
christine

Welcome to TCS...I agree with above, this doesn't sound normal to me either, it is essential for him to have a thorough examination and vaccinated. As far as the pooping on your bed, is he litter trained? Does he ever poop in his litter? He needs to see a vet first thing........

Hi,
this kittie sound unusually limp an listless to me.
It could be that he's a shy and timid boy who is sticking to you like glue because he was separated too soon from his mom- which would explain his crying when you go out.
But as this is your first cat and we can't really judge him without seeing him I'd really urge you to go to a vets and have him checked out and dewormed, if this hasn't already been done. If he needs deworming he should have his shots a week later.
As to the pooping- he's still a small boy and you can't expect him to get it right, especially if this means he's got to leave you at night to get to the litter box- this kitty seems to have seperation anxiety.
Set up some more litter boxes so he's never too far from the next one. Don't leave cloathing around- these tend to animate cats to urinate on them. Every now and then gently lift him into one of his litter boxes to remind him that they're there for him to use. It might be easier if you kept him in just one or two rooms for a few days untill he's got the hang of using the litter box.

christine

I agree, this doesn't sound like normal kitten behavior. Definitly get him to a vet to make sure everything is alright with him.

I agree with everyone that you need to get him checked very soon. For your own peace of mind, as well as his health. And while you're there, ask the vet for tips on how to care for him: how to trim his nails, how to recognize signs of illness, what to feed him, how to make your home safe for him, etc. A vet visit early on is a really good idea for many reasons. If you don't have a vet, ask your cat-owning friends for a recommendation; it's great to have a vet you like and trust.
Sometimes feral kittens don't know how to play and you have to teach them (by becoming a kitten yourself and spending a few hours on the floor getting excited about a toy on a string or a furry mouse). But a sick kitten will also be sleepy and listless, perhaps from an infection or really bad worms.
Good luck and get an appt. ASAP!

Hi, it's great that you took him to the vet to be checked out. I rescued some kittens once that were anemic and they acted much the same as you described. The vet probably checked his eyes and gums to look for signs of anemia.
Anemia in kittens can be caused by a poor diet or fleas. You are doing all the right things and keeping a close eye on him. A kitten that age really should be a little ball of energy.
I hope he feels better soon.
