I was out last evening with buddies when my wife Becky called to tell me that she had invited Marlow to come in, he did. But then he did not want to go back out! It had been raining all day and was raining still. When I finally dragged myself home about 11pm, Marlow had gone back out. Becky then invited him in again and this time he came and did not want to go back out. Sasha, my indoor cat and Marlow got along all night. They ate from seperate bowls together this morning.

Becky encouraged Marlow to go out this morning and he declined at first. Then she noticed that he exited through the loose screen in the door and Sasha had followed him. She herded Sasha back into the house.

Marlow had the run of the house all night but seemed to stick close to the head of the basement stairs. This is near Sasha's litterbox. I wonder if he used it. He had checked it out on previous visits inside.

Sounds like Marlow is becoming a house kitty. But I would have him tested before I let him mingle with the inside cat. Good luck with him!

That is great news!! Hopefully Marlow will be fully inside before really cold weather comes your way.

Marlow was in again last night after staying out Wednesday night. It was raining again last night. He and Sasha wer "active" most of the night. Becky let Marlow out at 4am and he came back in at 7am. More rain. He's in now. I suspect he is sleeping it off as Sasha is presently.

All day Marlow has been hanging out in the hideout we built for Sasha in our basement (where he goes during storms or when scarey people come over). I bet he comes out when his mommy gets home. It has rained all day and should continue through the night. The forecast is for a week of nice weather starting tomorrow. I can't forecast what Marlow will want to do.

Marlow stayed inside all day yesterday. This time upstairs in plain sight, lying on his makeshift bed.

Becky let him out last evening and he stayed gone all night. He came to the door at dawn this morning and called to be let in. We had our first frost of the season last night but Marlow didn't seem to mind that.

I think Sasha pesters Marlow more than Marlow is comfortable with. Sasha seems to want to play, Marlow is not yet a "player". I guess that all his life, his history with other cats has been as a territory defender. He is changing rapidly though.

LDG,

Marlows did everything on his own schedule. The rains we have had helped push him I think. We only acted on the signals he sent us. At the end of the day though you were right.

When I have the time to figure out this points and gift giving thing I'll look for a trophy for you.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I was just joking, of course. You and Becky did all the work that made Marlow ready to roll inside - and that made Sasha ready to want Marlow to be his buddy (and be willing to share his litter box!
).

LDG (Those are my real initials too!), it sounds like Marlow has adopted you as his very own! That's pretty much how we got Dusty, only she was never feral, though she ran away every time we tried to approach her until the first time we fed her. Then she became super friendly.
