Hi all, Meg seems to be doing fine after her spay but she's been pulling at her stitches so I've stuck a lampshade collar on her. The problem is that it's breaking my heart watching her try to get around on her three legs with that on her head, it's affecting her balance
. I don't know what else I can do for her, I've taken the lid off a litter tray, made sure she can get to her water easily and am keeping an eye on her.

It would be nice to get some TCS vibes to get us through until Friday when she has her check up!

Thanks.

Can you put a shirt on her, like a baby shirt or onesie so she can't get at the stitches? My Vet suggested that when we discovered Aya was a houdini at getting e-collars off in 10mins or less.

Depending on her size, you can use an old tube sock. Just cut the toes out and cut it long enough to cover her incision plus some (like the area from her armpits to her back legs), then just slip it over her head and paws or over her tail and back legs. Should stay in place by itself unless she figures out how to shimmy out of it!

I had to use an old sock for a foster kitten named Rogue. She was determined to take them all out!

Hey all, we went to see the vet this morning and he wants her to keep wearing the e collar, I asked if it was ok to try something else but he wasn't keen. I guess I need to move over to the US!!!

Meg's happier than she was and is letting me take the collar off and put it back on again without fuss. I can't tell you how much I love this girl, she's such a brave little thing! We just have to get through the next week now... and I will keep the sock thing in mind if things get difficult!

I'm not sure if a soft or blow up e-collar would work, but that's the first thing I thought. I remember what a difficult time Isaac & Maggie had adjusting to their collars, I can't imagine what it would have been like if they had 3 legs. Sometimes vets get stuck in the way they do things & aren't open to creative suggestions.
