Does anyone have one and are you happy with it? I'm looking to get either a L or XL one. I have noticed though that some are made from faux fur while others are faux fleece. Which is better for cleaning/vacuuming and more resistant to scratch and tear?

I hope to have it for many years to come, so want to make the best decision.

Thanks!

This is the one I have... My kitties LOVE IT! It is not the sturdiest of the trees, but I put it by the wall, and it is pretty stable. It does move a little bit when the kitties jump on it, but nothing to worry about... It looks to me like it will last for a good while. The quality is good, easy to clean, and easy to assemble it too - I am a single woman, and I did it on my own; it did not take much. The instructions are very self explanatory, the parts are labeled very well, making it super easy to put it together. It holds 60 lbs, and has plenty of perches and scratching posts... Overall I am very happy with this purchase, and it is well worth the price.
The kitties use this every day - to play, the scratching posts, to sleep on it, to hide... It was definitely one of the best purchases I have ever made... It is very easy to clean - either with the vacuum hose or with a brush. I Think this material is called a faux fur?? I believe it will least quite a while - years... It is a good buy for the $$$, definitely.

Carolina, thanks for your input! I am definitely trying to decide between the model you have or the B8201, but my boyfriend thinks the latter will be TOO tall. So many models - so hard to choose from! I do wish these two also had a hammock thing. I know Tofu would love sleeping in it.

I want to ask you - did the whole tree come in one whole big box or several boxes? Is the box(es) huge? The reason I ask is because I'm in Canada and I usually have everything shipped to the US and I just drive across the border to a post office to pick it up (I save massive amounts on shipping that way!). But I worry that the box will be too big for my car. I don't have a van or a truck - do I absolutely need one to transport it?

TIA!

I have this one

My cats love it, it's against the wall/window and I'm never worried about it falling over. I've had it for nearly two years and if I brush all the hair off it still looks practically new.
Mine came in one big box, I dont remember it being crazy heavy. You could probably call the company and ask for the measurements of the box. It should fit in your car unless you have a two door and wouldnt be able to get the box past the seat being leaned forward.

I have this one: http://www.armarkat.com/classic-cat-...1/prod_12.html

Four years later and it in good shape. The only thing worn is one of the "legs" of rope. It is *the* leg Smidge goes for so the rope is pretty much gone.
I just rearranged the legs so she had a fresher one.

I found the fur clogs the vacuum too easily so I dont vacuum really.
Well...that and I detest vacuuming.

It was v. easy to put together.

It is one box and I don't remember being that huge.... very well packed to save space... you can call them to get dimensions, or maybe get the shipping dimensions on the amazon site I gave you? I think they might have it... It did not strike me as huge though and if I would guess, I would say it would be fine in a car - depending on how wide your doors open...

Hubby will build a custom made one based on a few of the Armakat ones (I picked out one and added a few things from another one).

I think they are great for the price - would buy one, but hubby says he can make it.

I have the same tree as Mona and it's worked out well. I chose this model for its height as I have a small apartment and wanted to optimize the vertical space. And for its height, it's pretty stable due to the large base panel along with the two 2nd tier panels providing good balance. It all came in a efficiently packed box. My cats were on the tree before I even finished putting it together. The only negative are the hanging toys. They fell apart pretty quickly and my cats ingested the yarn. I just snipped them off and never replaced them.

I have a two Amarkats, one is around three years old, with five cats. Both the cats and I love them.

Here's their living room....
The tallest trees to the left and to the right are the Armakats.

To the OP who said they wished their was a hammock....you could easily make one and add it to one of those models. The one I have is basically a piece of faux fur with a loop of sisal going through either side. It is attached by tiny little hooks that could be picked up at any hardware store (it's removable).

I don't think that was very clear, but the point is that, if the model you like doesn't have a hammock, it's something you can add afterward!

Edited to say: I just found this site which offers a coupon code for 10% off (plus free shipping, but that's already offered on the main site anyway. I tried entering the code in and it worked like a charm!

Allen, speaking for my entire clowder, would like to know if you're going to share the site? Christmas is coming up and he thinks it's time for at least one new cat tree.

i have one and it's still going from 2006. I got the fleece one. And I don't think it needs too much up keep. I keep mine next to a wall. I put it together all by myself.

We bought this one on ebay last year for about $85! It has held up pretty well with my three boisterous kitties, although it is a little top-heavy and has to be positioned in a corner to stabilize it. I vaccuum it every week or two, and it comes clean pretty well. It was very easy to assemble, too. The faux fur around the sisal posts can come off a bit around the edges where the cats scratch, but I just took our apart and turned the posts over so the cats would scratch the other end of the posts for a while. It really has been a great deal for the money we spent, and the cats rarely scratch anything else, except the carpet.

I have this one http://www.armarkat.com/classic-cat-...1/prod_19.html and the boys spend almost all of their time on it. I did have to take the little house thingy out of the middle because they're too big to fit in it, lol, so now they just have an extra platform to bird watch.

I have to say about the hammock though, neither of my boys, and none of the 6 or so foster cats I had would EVER get in it. Even the kittens. They just jump right out if I put them there.

It has the faux fur and I just use the zoom groom on it to get the cat hair off.
