Reformed Republican Senator dumps "values" for votes

Democrat; then Republican; now Democrat again.

When Arlen Specter was running against a strong "family values" opponent, he was strongly in favor of the "Defense of Marriage" act, against hate crimes legislation, and voted for including discrimination against gays in the Bill of Rights.

But now, up against a quite liberal opponent who is doing well against him, he suddenly not only changes his ENTIRE stance, but announced it on an op-ed to a liberal news organization and announces it on twitter.

Can you say "pandering"? So much for conservative "values". They seem to actually be "which ever way the wind blows".

He'll probably become a republican again, when the need arises.

A fish on land flops less than a poliician. Instead of dangling a carrot-on-a-stick in front of them, perhaps it would be best to just wallop them with the stick?

I agree. I have far more respect for politicians I don't agree with who stand their ground, than I do for one that will pander to me for my vote.

Same here. Beggars and thieves...politicians are both.
