Quality sheets here in Canada can cost around $200 and above, so naturally we don't buy new ones until we need them.

I use home made quilts that my mom made for warmth but do buy a new (read cheap) comforter every couple years to freshen up the bedroom.

I also use pillow covers under the pillow cases and they get washed every week with the sheets. I wash the mattress cover about every 2-3 weeks and vacuum the mattress every couple months. We turn the mattress 4 times per year.

What sort of thread count are those? I don't buy anything under 500 (aside from the flannel). Have you looked at overstocked.com? I'm not sure what shipping would be after everything else was added on, but surely it would be less than $200.

I like to have at least two sets of regular sheets. In the past there have been kitty barf surprises, drinks tipped over on us (by the cats) in the middle of the night, and my own clumsiness. I like being able to have a set if there's surprises in the evening and no time to wash the bedding before bedtime.

I buy new blankets all the time but as for sheets... in the 2 years that Cody and I have been together we've only bought one new set of sheets and that was because I just wanted something new to look at.

The only time we really wash them is when our black fitted sheet turns white....

I kind of like it when my bedding smells like my S.O. because I find the scent comforting, especially when I have to sleep alone.

How often I wash the sheets depends on how often Aya whizzes on them lately...

I buy new ones when I need too. Everything can be washed except the down duvet inside the cover and that can be drycleaned.

I do like t-shirt sheets and it seems the kitty punches terminal holes in the matress covers every 6 months or so. I have many sets hanging around w/out a matching fitted sheet. But I try ot keep buy to a minimum as my mom has to send me these from the US.

I buy new ones when the old ones wear out.
I bought all new bedding about 2 months ago. Gus ate the beautiful ribbon roses on the old one. Last winter I bought 3 sets of micro fleece sheets, only because they were on sale for $25 a set.

Crikey, I just went searching for a new doona cover (I've been inspired!) and discovered that bedspreads and doona/duvet covers are different things.... This is harder than I thought

I am glad that I am not the only one who has a problem with my husband's head grease!

I had to double check myself so I pulled out the Sears catalogue which would probably be one of the cheaper places to buy sheets. For a set of Queen size 400 count sheets it is $139.99 then you add 13% taxes. So to go to a better quality store and get a better quality sheet, it would be much more than that.

One set that is 100% cotton sheets at 200 thread count is $129.99 for Queen.

I finally broke down and bought some new sheets last spring, since we were down to one set and it wasn't in too great of condition. I bought some on sale at Penney, I think they were either 250 count or 300 count. Turned out they were so comfortable, I went out and bought two more sets.

I bought a new pillow a couple years ago because my old one fell apart. Literally. It was the pillow I used as a kid, brought it with me when I got married. It was made of foam rubber and I loved it. This new one I don't care for at all, but I'm afraid to fork over money for another one and have it be the same way. They're all either too thin or too fat.

As for blankets, comfortorers, etc., don't buy any more of those, mine are washable. Occasionally I actually wash them

What kind of detergent are you using? I've never had that problem.

I haven't bought any sheets in quite a while. When I do, I always get them on sale. I also buy the higher thread count and have at least 4 sets plus 2 sets of flannel sheets. I'll be putting those on the bed soon.
I have a quilt on my bed and it's been on there since we painted the room about 4 years ago or so. It matches the curtains.

We were just talking about buying new sheets after seeing 1000 thread count Egyptian Cotton ones on sale for $129 (CDN).

We have a few sets and change them up with the duvets (we have duvets of varying degrees of warmth) but I buy sheets that match when I see them on sale. Last year we bought cheaper ones because we thought the colour matched the duvet better, what a mistake, they pilled easily and the colour faded with washing

Where are they on sale Eithne? I got some 1000 count Egyptian white sheets a few years back but they were "seconds" and affordable. Unfortunately they did not have the deep corner pockets and didn't stay on the mattress very well.

We have bout the same, couple regular sets and one flannel...one comforter. Our mattress is very thick, and the sheets I've found with deep enough pockets have been around $100 on sale, tho one time I found a set for $60 and picked them up.... couldn't pass that up.

We buy as needed for most things in our life

Beddingtons, they only have ivory or blue but I can live with that

They are on their website too in more colours: http://www.beddingtons.com/p-5862-10...heet-sets.aspx

I was also worried about the corner pockets so had to measure the new mattress first, it says they are 15" pockets

I just started doing that in the last couple of years. The quality ones last so much longer and feel much nicer.

I can't afford to buy sheet sets all the time, and we really don't have the storage. I find we get by with 3 sets of really nice quality ones. I will probably be checking out the post-Christmas sales this year for another good set too.
