I decided to up the ante today. With a little research, you can solve this week's geography lesson. Here are some hints (and the only hints I will be giving.)

This is my favorite "off the beaten path" city in the world.

I have driven to this city from my home six times; once by motorcycle.

I have taken a different woman with me each time. The single hotel in town has no door locks; in fact, no doors, just curtains. Since there is never any crime of any kind, this is not a factor.

In this picture my car is parked about fifty miles away because to get here would destroy most of your car unless you had one of the original Hummer H1s.

Although you cannot see any people in this picture, people DO live here. It even has a great Italian restaurant!

This city, without a doubt, is one of the best kept secrets in the world. But later when I provide my geography lesson for the week, you may want to go there. Don't worry, it has perfect weather every month of the year.

What CITY am I in? Only one guess per username. First correct answer gets 19,897 points!

I sure did. I keep finding little things that you cannot do from a phone on TCS. OK, I am heading down to my office with the "real" computer and doing this right. Thanks, Mike!

First, tell us how you researched this! OMG! I really did not give any clues other than I drove there. No matter how hard the picture is, TCS members always get the right answer. I am confident today's picture was the hardest one we have ever had. Nobody except you knew what to guess or how to research this and I doubt you have access to my disk containing all my travel photos. OK, fess up. How did you do it?

Meanwhile,
CONGRATULATIONS!!

Real de Catorce at one time had a population of 40,000 or so and produced most of the country's silver (after Tasco). The silver ran out and all the people left since there was nothing else to do. One of the biggest ghost towns in the world, it is absolutely fascinating. Back when I first found it (in ca. 1975), there was no mention of this place in any tour guide book. I just love driving down roads that I have no idea of where they go!

Rigel, I finally posted a picture of Mexico. But no response from you.

Actually, it was very easy for me. I knew it was Mexico since you stated you drove there. Sometimes the actual name of the pic is a clue. When I right clicked on the picture and chose "save as" it told me what you named the pic. I wrote that down thinking it was a region in Mexico, and went from there. I didn't think it was the name of the city at all until I googled it. I checked some other out of the way spots too, but when I read that just the only way into the city was through a small one lane tunnel, I went with it anyway. I didn't expect to be right though!

Ya might want to use photobucket to post the photos or name it something different.

Yeah I just right clicked to save the pic and it came up with Real De Catorce...

Maybe save the file names as "Quiz" or "City1". Coz now we all know for next time

LOL I checked the other quizzes, and there was no hint in the name, so maybe this one was a fluke. I honestly didn't think I would be right though. I don't know the regions of Mexico and thought it was a region until I googled it.
