Hello!

I just got my first kitten on Monday and she's warming up really well. Right now she's still restricted to the bathroom for a few more days before she gets to explore the rest of the house and hopefully meet my dog. But until then, we've been hanging out in the bathroom. Here are some pictures!

"Grrr, I's bites your hand!"

"Gotta Escape!"

Is it normal for kittens to sink their claws and teeth into your jeans? lol, it's her favorite thing to do, and it hurts! lol.
"Mmmmmmmm"

She was also obsessed with the camera cord, lol.

Looking innocent for a SECOND, lol.

"Die hand!"

"Aren't I an angel?" She thinks he has everyone fooled!

"I said die!" Back for another round, lol.

"Just you wait, you'll get your's, HUMAN!"

Rolling into her water bowl, lol.

Cleaning herself for a second in my lap

Uh oh, back to attacking! "Stop with that flashy thing!!!"

More jean attacking, lol.

And the picture that I originally went up there for, lol. Are they really a girl? The person I got her from said yes, but I'm not sure how much experience they had. And I honestly can't tell, lol.

Thank you for looking, and I hope you enjoyed! :p I have scratches for your (and Mittens) entertainment, lol!

She is adorable
I would suggest not using your hands as toys though to play with her. It may lead to her biting and nipping in the future. Instead use toys such as balls etc... My cat likes attacking stuffed animals.

Thanks!
She does actually have a mouse/string toy that I bought for her, and she loves it! She's just been playing with my hand like that since the first time I tried to pet her. How do I discourage it?

I would say Mittens is a girl ...... she will need to go to a vet to be spayed so she wont go into heat and the vet will be able to tell you

When she starts to play with your hands just gently redirect her immediately to one of her toys. She will learn. Welcome to you both, shes adorable.

Thanks everyone!
And of course! I'm definitely getting her spayed, and she's going in for her shots/tests/deworming next week. I wanted her to get settled in first since I don't have any other cats (in which case I would have taken her right away). I figured it was already a stressful enough time for her. At what age is best to get her spayed? I read some places no younger than 4 months, and some spaying at 8 weeks (which I thought was a little extreme...). What would you recommend?

Some vets we spay her as soon as she reaches a certain weight. (2lbs) ..... but since cats can go into heat, as young as 4 months, I would go for the, sooner the better, approach.

Definitely stop using your hands as toys right now. It's cute because she's tiny, it will not be cute in a few months.

Use a small stuffed animal (remove any small parts) for her to bite and bunny kick with. Toss crumpled papers for her to chase, and destroy. Train her out of biting you by gently telling her no, and turning your back on her for a a minute or two. Get her a cat tree to climb instead of your jeans.

Get her used to being handled, especially her paws, so you can trim her sharp little nails.

And welcome to you and Mittens!
