Does anyone notice changes in their cats when the temperatures change or it's super gloomy outside? In Virginia, we've had more rain than sunshine in the past two months (15 out of 21 days in June were rain). And on the days that we don't have rain, it turns super-hot. It's the most ridiculous weather! I think it has effected Emma. She's more lazy, not as energetic. She is eating, peeing, pooping fine and is fine all around but is not her usual crazy self. Just wondering if this happens to other cats? Or should I be concerned?

I know during the hot summer months, Spike is definitely more lazy than when it's cooler. I'm sure the heat affects cats much like us humans. Hot weather makes me sleepy in general.

Oh boy, does the weather make a difference! During the first warm days of the spring and the first cool days of the fall, my cats go bonkers! They are really energetic and play like crazy. During the summer and winter they are much more mellow, and sleep a whole lot.

The temperature has been unbearably hot reaching the 90s with the same forecast for tomorrow. (Good thing the pool is open, but the water temp is still a tad too cold!) When I checked on the kittens after supper, they were drowsy, sleepy, yawning, and in no mood for playing. They seem to be really active in the early morning and morning hours when it's cooler and sleepy during the afternoon and off and on sleepy in the evening.

I just love your website and that adorable tuxedo cat, Spike! What a wonderful story you've told about your quest for discovering and adopting a kitten.

Thank you, caterpillar.
I am such a proud mommy!
Spike's new site should be up and running around the first week of July. (yet another shameless plug
)

The picture you've attached is SO cute! I miss Spike's kitten days sometimes. Thankfully, those of you with kittens post pictures of your babies.

Cindy lifts her head and looks upwards with what I call this "adoring" sort of look. She does this when you pet her head or at times when she looks at you and was even doing this to the veterinarian. I happened to catch her pose for the digital camera and yes, I've gone digital camera crazy!
Thanks!

Spike is so huggable! I just love his fur. It's strange, but my kittens' fur seems to be changing color a bit, as it looks more gray and gray/black now instead of brown. Lucy still has the tan/beige coloration, but she's turned more tabby gray on her back, sides, and on the top of her head.

Cindy just plops herself down on the kitchen floor in this heat. It must be cooler on the floor tiles and on the floor, as heat rises. She also likes to rest right in front of the patio door and experience some cooling breezes, but you have to be really careful when you push the screen door open. Sometimes I have to close the sliding glass door, because I can't trust the girls with the screen door, and that makes it unbearably hot.

Thanks for the plug for your website. I'll be sure to check it out!

Your kitties are getting so big, now! What happened to Sherbet? Kudos to you for being such a wonderful, caring person in helping the cats from your part of the woods.

When my lost cat first became missing, for at least two months later, I kept noticing all of the cats that wandered by our yard. I still look out for cats, hoping my cat is on his way home. I've seen a big ragdoll with round, bright blue eyes and a brown cat that looked part Siamese. He just strolled onto and off the back porch. About a week ago, I saw a large brown, furry cat, and found out it belonged to one of the neighbors. Before I adopted the kittens, I put catfood out for a few nights and attracted an orange tabby, that was seen gobbling up all the food.

I think my cat gets depressed by all the rain we have been getting this spring. On a raining day, she mostly sleeps all day, sometimes insists on going outside and getting soaked. On sunny days, she appears so happy and alert all day stalking birds, squirrels, bugs, you name it....

I've noticed my kitty's mood changes especially when it's hot. I imagine they have ups and downs just like us!
