I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!

Yes! I'm yelling!

I phoned the girl from HR again today. She wanted to let me know that she had requested a reference from my manager on Friday but had not yet received it. And I can't remember exactly what, but she said something that prompted me to ask if that means I got the job. She told me that I had, pending the receipt of my reference from my manager.

So I went and had a conversation with my manager and let her know that I had applied for a job at cancer care and that it had been offered to me pending her sending a recommendation which they are waiting for. I told her that I have mixed emotions about changing not only jobs, but also the hospital location too.

The hospital I'm at is where I got my very first nursing job and has been part of my life for 15 years. The staff and management have been nothing but wonderful to me. Of course I got weepy-eyed!
I told her that I love the ward (which I do despite it's issues), and the staff are great to work with (for the most part
), and that I love the work (most of the time) and that I'm going to miss it (I am).

Right now everything is still just sinking in. I'm sure as the days progress and the end date where I work approaches, I'll be going through many different emotions.

Congratulations, that's great news - it definitely sounds as though you're due for a change. I hope this new job is a happier place for you

Wow! Congratulations! Very, very happy for you!!!

I must tell you, after going through chemo and radiation and now Herceptin (until the end of December), I have had alot of contact with oncology nurses, and I have heaps of respect and admiration for them. The nurses I came in contact with were always caring, and interested in what was going on with each individual patient, and very, very committed.

You are in a tremendous group of people, and I'm sure you'll be exceptional at this, because you're so excited to be doing this, and obviously love it!
