This one ought to be quite a challenge. The first person to name the country gets 10,000 points. The person who first names the city gets another 10,000 points. And finally, for 10,000 more points, what is going on in these pictures?. You must use the official language of the country to describe the event even though very few people in the pictures can speak the official languange of the country. If there is somebody who can answer all three parts, they get a bonus of 20,000 for a total of 50,000 points.

Wow, I need to think about this. Dressed in Arab garb. Looks like a funeral.
Or some sort of mock funeral. Looks like some Westerners there, too.

Hmmmm.....

I like Rigel's thinking about this being about the virgin Mary. The people dressed as Arabs - this could be costumes.

The green hills to me say it is not in one of the desert countries.

Looks like hints are needed. Only two words are used to explain what is being celebrated. These two words are understood around the world. You will need to book a hotel room a year in advance unless you like sleeping on park benches like I did. The country is in the Western Hemisphere. Except for Madri Gra in Rio there is nothing more well planned and executed. You should know by now I spend most of my time in Spanish speaking countries but most of the people in this country cannot speak Spanish.

No more clues for this one...

How does it feel to only have 323 points one minute and then have 50,323 points the next minute? Tell us how you knew. I am guessing you went to school there. As did I among other places. Even so, only about 30% of Guatemala speaks Spanish as many other indigenous "indian" languages are spoken. The government of Guatemala recognizes 23 official languages.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

BTW, Semana Santa translates to Holy Week and is held the week before Easter.

Whoa I thought I gave the wrong answer.

I used google images. Google Assumption Mary procession and tons of other stuff. One thing led to another.....

Never went to school outside of the US.
