We're watching local news, since it is, well, local for us. The child actually lives maybe a mile and a half from my father's house and where I grew up.
There's a police report that a police office DID see something fall. It's very rural and not built out at all not far from their neighborhood and in the direction that the balloon was headed. Earl IMed me this Google Map to show the area where the officer is referring to: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie...32093&t=h&z=14
They are calling in Denver's Flight for Life to help "search".
I cannot, in my heart of hearts, believe that this was some sort of hoax or publicity stunt. The parents aren't actors and I can't believe that they could pretend well enough to fake out the police and everyone else on this case for 4 hours now.
Is the child hiding because he doesn't want to get in trouble? Perhaps. But it's 3:00 now and the whole thing started around 11:00. Once again, that's 4 hours. Most 6 year olds don't have that kind of attention span, nor would he have just fallen asleep somewhere for that long (a typical 6 year old, anyway). And they've been searching his home and that area for 4 hours!
I hope it ends well, I really do...but...
