A while ago I found a child's fishing pole on clearance and got it with the idea of using it like a wand toy. I attached a feather cluster to the end and cast it out.

Totally freaked Ari out. Any time I pick it up his eyes get wide and he disappears. And I bought it for him.

This morning I had to get cat food and bought a new wand toy. His fave, a cheapy from WalMart with feathers and a bell. He heard the bell as I took it out of the shopping bag and would not leave me alone until I took it out of the package and let him play with it.

He is now dragging it around the house and very happy.

You win some -- and you don't win some! Nice try, Jan. Glad you have regained the boy's favour.

They are very unpredictable, aren't they? I'm glad you found something Ari enjoys.

Don't you hate it when you come up with a brilliant idea to amuse them, and they want nothing to do with it?

We just bought a pkg of furry mice with rattles inside. Squeak loves them. My husband tied one to his fishing rod, and she went crazy! Squeak thinks it is the best toy ever. She will play until she is exhausted! She is catfishing, heh!

So true! Whenever I spend a few extra bucks to buy what I think is a great toy...FAIL! With the toy that is.....the shopping bag that the toy came in......a HUGE hit!
