Tonight for us it will be individual instances of "something-on-the-fly". DH will likely end up at Golden Arches; I will do my best to get fed something without resorting to that.

Osso Bucco!

Tonight Kieran & I are trying the new burgers from work. It's a wild boar burger, with pork crackle, apple and cranberry sauce, aioli, salad and a wholemeal burger bun. YUM!

Oooh, sounds very tasty and "gourmet"!

Tonight is salmon Wellington courtesy of President's Choice, my favourite brand.
Served with lettuce, broccoli, and carrots.

Yeah we only make the best burgers at my work!
Everything is natural and fresh - can't wait to taste the chagriled wild boar strips.

Salmon Wellington.. YUM! My families butchery used to make the best Beef Wellingtons.

I'm about to go home and cook some tempura wedges for lunch with a cheesy spinach, mushroom & onion topping!

Osso Buco is one of hubby's favourites. It is usually popular with Italians during the Christmas/New Year time so I have to special order the veal chops from the local Italian store because if I don't there won't be any left when I want them. I usually make it for New Year's Eve.

Tonight we do DH's Birthday Dinner (the actual day is Monday).

His request (as usual) is for Roast Lamb with Anchovies. The selected accompaniments this year are Wild Rice and Roasted Asparagus with Smoked Olive Oil. And dessert is Zabaglione.

Yikes! I just remembered we need to decant another jar of Orange Brandy. That will undoubtedly be required later on, and there's none left in the decanter -- can't have that! Must give him a call.

Last night we had a Rotisarie chicken, garlic & herb. Tonight we are having the left overs in a chicken wrap with avocado, onion, lettuce and low fat ranch dressing. Gotta keep those darn carbs low.
Actually it's not that bad...but I sure would love a big ol' greasy hamburger, someday!

VERY interesting. The anchovies are in a "beauty paste" that is smeared all over the roast. It's a James Barber recipe that I tried years ago because I knew how much Rob loves both lamb and anchovies. I was fairly new to cooking lamb at that point, because we never had it at home, but I liked lamb and wanted to do it for him. Well, this treatment surpassed all expectations and is, ever since then, his request for his birthday dinner every year (except one). It softens the flavour. Even my Dad, who was the reason we never had lamb at home, could enjoy this. I had to camouflage the leftovers pretty well for him, but the roast dinner he actually liked.

And tonight, it's party food. We have a housewarming to go to. Haven't totally decided what I'm going to take. It may depend on available time for preparation. We have to be downtown for something late afternoon, and will probably get home with a couple of hours to spare before going out again. I'm thinking maybe I'll do the little cranberry canapÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]s that seem to be a hit whenever I do them. Doesn't take much effort to spread tortillas with cream cheese, sprinkle with dried cranberries and green onion, and roll 'em up. It's the time for chilling that will be the deciding factor. If time turns out to be an issue, I may just pick up a couple of nice cheeses, some interesting crackers and some olives.

Mmm, yummy Fran. You would be an inspiration to me if I weren't so lazy!

Tonight is grilled pork chops, steamed broccoli and carrots, and boiled taters, with mission fig and olive topping. And a drooling cat on my lap.

Nobody's eating?

Today is the Boy's actual birthday. He's getting leftovers.
But he won't mind. The end of the roast makes a most satisfactory Lamb Curry, which he loves.
And while it's talking to itself, I think I'll put a Crisp together -- he likes that.
