Well, last night we scrounged enough money for a pizza. They are bringing new fridge today. Threw everything out but the freezer stuff last night. We'll see if it stays frozen long enough to get the new one set up. If not, will have to throw that out too.

Have a big shopping trip this weekend

I just went through my freezer looking for meals to plan. I would not want to have to go out and replace all that's in there. There's a heck of a lot of money in there when you think about it.

Tonight I'm going to make a meatloaf. DH loves homey cooking like that and I seldom make it, so he should be pleased.

Me too! I love meatloaf but hubby isn't too crazy about it. I'm thinking it's time to make a bit roaster full of cabbage rolls too. He doesn't like those either so I make a big batch and freeze meal size portions for myself for those nights he has gigs and isn't home for dinner.

I'm trying a weird recipe tonight. It's for a meatloaf, but it has ground ham, turkey and cranberries in it.

MMM...that sounds interesting! Given that ham and turkey share a table very graciously and cranberries go with both, it definitely has potential. Let us know how it turns out.

As for us, I have three possibilities vying for place. It's a while since I've done lamb chops for a Friday, and I kind of fancy Greek accompaniments; and it's a while since I've done scallops for a Friday. I'm waiting on a call back from Jr as to whether they'll be with us, and if so, I'll let him choose; if not, enter the third possibility, which I only do when they are not going to be with us: veal. OK, Junior, ring my flufflaphone!

Whatever the main course happens to be, dessert will be the apples that didn't happen the other night, probably Maple Poached.

I had the rest of my sandwich from subway and a candied apple for dessert.

Well, the kids were bushed and decided to hibernate, so the veal won. Veal Tarragon (scallopini with tarragon, parmesan, white wine), Black Pepper Pappardelle, and a light salad. And the apples fell by the wayside again, when I walked by the Italian shop in the market that does the lovely tiramisu.
Too good. Too easy. Not even expensive. What can I say?

You're such a pushover!

We just got home from the Farmer's Market. (Bijou went with us but had to stay in the car.) Hubby tries different Italian sausages each week from different vendors. Got lots of goodies. We're just enjoying some cut up focaccia bread dipped in pesto sauce.

Well, the new fridge is all stocked up after a super expensive grocery store trip this morning. My mom is coming to visit for a few days on Tuesday else I might have waited to re-stock some of it but I can't starve her! lol

Tonight we're have baked chicken and rice. Probably can tomato & green chilis, creamy chicken soup and whatever else we come up with to throw in. Chicken was on sale and rice is always cheap so this is a bit of an experiment.

I find myself once again with an abundance of "counter fruit", i.e. mangoes, avocadoes and tomatoes. So I think tonight we'll have that nice t/m/a salad with feta, alongside something easy like smokies. Maybe I'll put a few yam fries in the oven. And there's the other half of the tiramisu for dessert.

Oh that sounds nice. Have fun!

Tonight is leftover meatloaf and I just baked some fougasse buns. Truth be told I'll probably just eat most of the buns and call that dinner!
I love fresh bread. The meatloaf was good- I looked up a recipe online and did a "cheeseburger meatloaf", tasty.

Karen- that meatloaf you described sounds very tasty. That all goes together well, and would make a good Fall tradition kind of meal.

My stomach is a little wonky today from the meds I have been taking for my OA flare-up so I made my favorite soup.

Cream of Asparagus, which I am having sprinkled with Parm Cheese, and some toast. Maybe some Black Cherry Frozen yogurt for dessert.

That sounds like fancy comfort food! I hope you're feeling better soon.

I'm FINALLY getting around to making Yosemite chicken! It's taking a lot longer than I thought it would, though. Probably about 45 minutes.
