Gary and I found this great sandwich shop in the "downtown" of the little town nearest to where we live. Gary is one of those very friendly people who gets to know everyone really quickly... so when we went in today, the lady who owns the place was there and asked if we had dogs.
Nope - just cats. Someone knew she rescued animals, and gave her a giant bag of dog treats.
...which led to the conversation... about how she used to work as a vet tech (for 10 years). Her hubby finally basically talked her into quitting - because she was rescuing so many animals, and the vet was NOT giving her a discount on services (!!!!!!) that it ended up costing her money to work there! (The vet did let her adopt out the animals from there - but still! ).
...Anyway, long story short - she rescues cats! (And dogs when there are any - but for the most part, the problem is cats). She's been TNRing in town for three years. (Yup, the vet ear-tips.
). She's found a vet that DOES give her discounts - and a wealthy friend who passed on recently (R.I.P.) left her a VERY generous fund with which to continue to rescue and/or TNR the cats.
So there ARE good people out there - and good people supporting good people!
