Hi, it's been a very long time since I've been on.
I've been caring for a stray that showed up in our yard early this spring as a very tiny little kitty. He's now growing into a healthy looking, very beautiful cat! He's UTD on vaccinations & I just had him neutered last week.
I would love to have him live indoors with us, but it's just not possible becuz I have a dog that is obsessed with getting Ben & I'm afraid she'd seriously harm him, if not worse.
I have had him in a few times over nite, as the dogs are crated thru the nites. And now with winter approaching I'm planning on bringing him in at nite & letting him outdoors during the day. But Nebraska winters can be quite harsh & cold so I've asked my hubby to construct some kind of shelter for him.
Any suggestions for the construction would be very much appreciated.
Forgive me if this post has come up in the past, I'm sure it has, but I couldn't find anything, but perhaps someone could point me in the right direction.

It's very easy, and there are a couple different ways. I had a styrofoam cooler from this summer that I saved. It fit snugly in a rubbermaid container. I cut a hole in both of them and put the cooler inside. Here's my thread for you to look at and I'll find you a link for some better instructions too.

My shelter:

I still need to tape up the holes, like another member suggested and fill the rubbermaid container and inside the shelter with straw. Use straw, not blankets.

This one says $70, but there are cheaper ones, mine was probably about $10:

Hope that helps.

Ah! Yes, that helped a lot, thank you VERY much! I've bookmarked all those pages you linked to so I can show hubby when he gets home.
