Skinny, the winter cat, appeared today and in good shape, but his whiskers are all short and choppy looking - almost like someone nipped them off with a scissors but I know that wasn't it as I can't even touch him. What would be the cause? Anyone have an idea?

Is he around other cats that he's friends with?

My cats often have chewed off whiskas, done during grooming.

I have no idea if he has friends or anything, I seldom see him from spring break-up until this time of year. No idea where he goes, or anything but where ever it is, he is getting fed. He is wild, too wild to touch much less follow. He is the only cat here with chewed off whiskers.......just looks weird among the long whiskered cats; even Gimpy, the other winter cat has full whiskers. And, Gimpy, well I know he goes home for the summer - his family doesn't have a nice heat lamp set up in an enclosed space like I do - they DO have a lamp but in a more open area....oh and no tinned food added to the diet in winter

That's really interesting because we noticed that one of our cats (Emmy) has now got shorter whiskers on one side of her face, it's like someone has come along and chopped half of the length off! She's an indoor cat by the way.
