Hi all,

I have a lovely wee ginger cat who is 18 months old now. His names JoJo and I love him to bits.
My partners cat came to stay when he moved in with me about a year ago and I am sadly running out of patience with it as she does not tolerate my little JoJo atall.
She hisses at him all the time and even when Jo Jo walks past her shell hiss and swipe at him. There dosnt seemt o be any indication of her warming to him atall as they have now shared a house for a year and she still dosnt get on with him.
Hes a playfull natured wee cat being so young, he just wants to play but she wont bond with him and obviously feels threatened by him.
What should I do?

for them to bond. Some cats never bond and just tolerate eachother. Is there any true aggression toward JoJo? If all it amounts to is hissing and an occassional swipe, I wouldn't be terribly concerned. My cat Jane can't stand my other cat Buddy. She growls at him when he tries to eat next to her and I have seen him take a swipe at her. You say it has been a year. If there is nothing other than swiping and hissing, I don't think you should worry. Play as much as you can with JoJo and that way his energy will be spent and he won't bother the other cat as much to play. JoJo will learn his place and eventually give in and leave the other one alone. Hopefully someone else will come along with some other thoughts. But cats are not like dogs. There is no way to force them to get along. Over time they may become friends and you may find them sleeping next to each other someday down the road. Good luck.

How did you introduce them when they first met? It is important that cats meet slowly and sometimes you have to separate them and reintroduce them to make things work. It takes time but sometimes that is all that helps
