Cleo got 3 best of breed and 1 final.
She came in 10th place All Breed.
Ty got one final in kittens.
He came in 8th place.
I think he got a 4th and 5th place in Bengals.
He also got a 1rst place in Bengals.
That is the ring he finaled in.

Awesome Jacky - how many sphynx were there??

Enough to grand for Cleo???
Sam,
In a TICA show a cat needs 6 finals from 4 different judges and 1000 points in order to Grand. The number of other Spynx at the show won't have any bearing on whether she achieves Grand or not.

This is Cleo's first TICA show.

She has 2 more days of showing so it could happen.

I'm answering for Jacky, because this is her first TICA show and she may not know all this yet.

Thanks Nial!

I was just wondering how many sphynx were in Cleo's section because she got some BOB.

DUH! I forgot it was the TICA show!

There were only 2 sphynx and the other sphynx is a SGC and something else.
I can not remember.
They said she is a Champion now.
I do not really understand the scoring yet in TICA.
I really do not thin she will make 5 more finals.
Jerrie Wolfe told me she is a Champion now.
I also was talking to the lady benched next to me that shows Toygers.
1000 points sounds like alot.

Congrats Jacky!!!

I am so happy Cleo became a Champion. My Maddie became a champion at her first show (TICA) and I was so proud of her. You must be just smitten with Cleo that she is doing so well in shows Not bad for a "pet quality" kitten you purchased IMO, no Sphynx is just pet quality; they all have the uniqueness about them that separates them from the rest.

Good luck with these next two days!!

Congratulations Good luck for the rest of the show.

Congrats Jacky!!!!!!!

Congrats to Cleo! I am showing two of my cats (HHPs) this weekend also, Blaze and Harlequin. This is their first TICA show, Harlequin has been in one other show before but it was a stand-alone household pet show not with an organization.
Harlequin had a pretty good day today too. I'm going to wait to post all their results until after the second day of the show, but I will mention that she got enough points today to become a "master" (HHP equivalent to a champion.)

That is great.
Cleo acted very bad today.
Yeah my other cat Blaze did not do very well today. He was scared (it was his first show) and mostly hid at the back of the cages. He didn't get any finals and I was debating whether to bring him back tomorrow but I decided to give it a try and see if he gets any more comfortable with it. If not he probably won't be showing again.

I'm proud of Ty. I didn't know what to expect because this was my first show. He didn't get anything yesterday, so hoping he does alright today. Wish I could be there with him. Work never gives me weekends off. At least I was there for his 1st place win and final.

Poor Cleo just doesn't like the judge cages. Must be all the unknown kitties. In the benching area she's happy and purring. Hoping she does alright today also.

Congrats to two new Ch Sphynx!
And congrats to Ty for doing so well!
Jacky, how did the rest of the show go and how are you today?

Thanks,
We juist got home.
Cleo got one best of breed today.
Two of the judges said to take Cleo out of the cage for them and not to worry about the hissing and growling.
They said the other sphynx is one of the top sphynx in the country.
Ty picked up two more fifth places and a fourth place. He's tuckered out sleeping in my lap. He's very happy to be home.

To bad that other Bengal slapped him across the face in the ring.
All the Bengals are so loud lol.

That's Top Cat's problem. He was fine in his first show, pissed in the 2nd, and lackluster in the 3rd. We'll see what he does in his next one.

I even tried Vicks and Vanilla and neither worked.

I've tried Rescue Remedy. Works only a tad on him. I need to find a better way to rectify the issue. I'll hate to retire him after this show because he's so pretty (at least in my opinion ). A judge from the last show - Cleo's breeder actually - suggested that I try to purchase a wire cage from the show cage people to train him at home. Didn't get a chance to do so before leaving the last show, but maybe I might do that this time around.

Is rescue Remedy allowed?
I need to try something with Cleo.
The cage might work you never know.
Someone came up to me and said someone in thier family has a half sister of Ty from Nial.
Someone else told someone that Cleo looks like one of Ed cats.
I forget who the persons name is but i think he is from the Mid Atlantic Region.
I never saw the person who said it.
Brittney a sphynx breeder I know said to try lavendar.
This was Cleos first 3 day show also.
I hope you have better luck at your next show.
Cleo has a CFA show on Oct 25th.
I did like TICA.
It is nice to see breeds that are not in CFA.
I've never heard of using Vanilla or Vicks. I know some people use lavendar oil on the cage cushion, or fresh picked lavender in the cushion pillowcase.

but if Cleo really hates it, it may be best to just follow her wishes.

I am not putting her in 2 day shows anymore.
Having Ty set her off worse then ever.
I will be taking Wrinkles to all the shows and Cleo to a few.
I can start Wrinkles early.
Cleo was not to bad on friday.
Congrats Jacky and the kitties.

Don't feel bad - I went to one TICA show with my Cornish Rex a long time ago. I never did figure out the scoring system, but after 2 days of showing, Spooky walked out of the showhall as a Grand Champion and I have no clue as to how he did it (never registered/claimed it). 1,000 points sounds like a lot, but it really isn't - I "think" you get a certain amount of points for the final (like 250 points if you win in AB or something like that). Nial can explain it
post #26 of 37
I was confused by the scoring too. I read several websites on it but I still found it somewhat confusing. I asked someone at the show and they explained it all much better. I still don't get the regional awards scoring systems though.

Thanks Martice
Nekochan,
I was so confused the first day of the show on the scoring.
I thought Cleo only got points for the final until I was told by someone how it works.
When Cleo gets BOB in CFA I never see points for that.
There were alot of Toygers at the show also.
I got benched way in the back because of Ty.
They said they like to bench the Bengals in the back because they are loud.
I was benched by Savannahs and Egyptian Maus for some reason. There were a number of Toygers in the show I was at too, actually several were benched in the same row as us.

We had alot of Toygers in our row.
I was not benched with my TICA Mentor.
She was 2 rows in front of me.
We were as far as you can get from the rings.
That's a bit weird. In ACFA, we never have problems with Bengals being "loud". Not sure why TICA would separate them - what do you mean by being loud?
