Woohoo - Brazil will host the 2016 Olympics!!!

Rio de Janeiro was chosen today to host the 2016 Olympic games - it was competing against Chicago, Madrid, and Tokio!!!



Not only that, but we are also hosting the World cup in 2014 back-to-back sport goodness! !!!

This is a huge huge deal for my country!!! Huge cause for celebration!!! Awesome news - made my day!!!

Well done!!! Will you be going home for a visit when the time comes?

Definitely something to think about it!! Especially in Rio - that City is absolutely beautiful!

I hope you do then we can get pictures of the place first hand with our very own tour guide!

It is long ways away, but.... well.... Rio is Rio, and the Olympics are the Olympics.... It looks like I am going for sure You know, the London 2012 don't look too shabby either - My God - London is one of my favorite cities in the world, and I just so happen to have one of my dearest friends in there ! Are you going? Have you bought your tickets yet??? You are going to be our first tour guide, and I would be the second, how about that??

No, i won't be there for the olympics, but i'll probably be there for a theatre show because we go there a couple of times a year, so i'll have to make sure i book the hotels even further in advance because they'll fill up quick. I'll take pics though

I know their spending a fortune for it

Yup rugby

NZ is going to have approx. 60,000 international visitors which is a pretty big deal sine our population is about 4.3 million.

Since I live in Chicago I was thinking it would be neat if we got to host the Olympics, although there are problems that go along with it too... Unfortunately Chicago lost out in the first round of voting.

Having grown up in Chicago with family members scattered all over town, I was really rooting for it to be there also.

But congratulations Rio!!
