Hi everyone, can someone tell me what's really good for hairballs? Sassy, my long haired kitty is 13, blind and has a bad hairball problem. I had read that you could put vaseline on their feet and when they lick it off it helps take care of the problem. Since it says "petroleum" I was just wondering if this was safe and if anyone else had heard of this tip. The picture of all my babies is below, including Sassy and the new baby who was so sick but is now on the road to recovery.

please don't use vaseline, some of it is petroleum based and it is not a good idea to use on cats. They have all sorts of hairball remedies, laxatone, pet-a-malt, kitty fiber. There is dry food you can feed that is Hairball control formula. You can add fish oil to your cat's food, or regular vegetable oil. Grooming every day is essential or you can simply start adding canned pumpkin or metamucil to your cat's food to add fiber and push the hair through the system.

Thats great, thanks a bunch. I really was afraid to use the vaseline but needed a good tip. I have some cod liver oil, will that help? And if its ok to use, do I need to mix it in their food or just give it to them with a syringe? They're pretty picky eaters and if there is any additives, they won't touch it.
