Ours is gross because of hard water. The walls are fine but it's the floor that's slowly turning orange again. I try to use only natural cleaners (vinegar) but I think I need to get some CLR again :S.
CLR or Lime Away (my choice) is effective with tough mineral deposit build up. I use Lime Away to clean mineral deposits/build up in my faucet and shower heads. It is effective with excessive mineral build up, simply follow instructions.
As far as shower vs. bath... you can't control the bacteria and mineral buildup in your plumbing. I am so much like "Monica" ("Friends" clean freak) I clean/disinfect the tub before every bath, and I currently live alone. When sharing shower stalls or tubs it is the walls and floors that need to be disinfected and cleaned regularly.
It is a good idea to disinfect as well as clean your shower head regularly, also soaking in mineral dissolving solution will insure a steady shower head flow. It is highly unlikely that ones shower head would be the source of bacterial infection rather then the shower floor or walls.

Me too Sam!

We live with germs everyday..everywhere. No point in getting paranoid over them! The germs one should be worried about are the ones that may be in our food.

Interestingly enough, they said they did NOT find the problem in showers supplied by well water. It seems to come from the municipal supply.

Great tips for what people like to use to clean their tub/shower and shower heads! I was just wondering if anyone has an easy way that they clean their shower liners (not the curtain but the liner)? We have one bathroom that doesn't have a door on it so we have to use a curtain and liner. Do you just throw your liners out and buy new ones? Is there something you can spray on it instead of having to take it down and scrub it all the time?

My shower curtain has no liner but is not made of plastic. It is machine washable so I just take it down every few weeks and toss it in with the laundry.

The one that hangs outside of the tub is cloth and I do wash that in the laundry, but I have to have a liner on the inside of the tub or water gets all over the floor.
Maybe it's just me and I'm to wild with the water!?

You can also take down your plastic or vinyl shower liner and wash it in the washing machine.

I had no idea that we could throw them in the wash! That will save me some money and back pain! Thanks again!

I actually think Gary's germophobia ends up making him get sick a lot more than he would otherwise. !!!!!

Yeah because he's touching the germs and stuff I guess?

I *touch wood* haven't had a cold this year but we're transitioning currently from winter weather to summer weather and I've got exams coming up.
