I mean, I don't think the poster itself is racist, however I am not sure if hanging a poster with the president's face distorted from a business place is something someone would do because they disrespect him and see him as inferior to the rest of the US presidents because he is black or simply because they disagree with his politics.
I think this is the comment that sparked a lot of the controversy here. Yes, she said she didn't think it was racists, but she didn't know if the person who hung it was against his politics or against him because of his black. So now, it seems like anyone that disagrees with Obama, and happens to be white (or any race besides black) it is a suspicion that they are racist.

The NAACP is getting involved, not because the banner is racist, but because people are disagreeing with a president that happens to be black.

I stopped talking about politics at work because during the election when I tried to have an intelligent discussion with someone who was pro-Obama, I was called racist when I pointed out something I didn't agree with.

I'm sure those of you that were for Obama didn't experience it, but believe me a lot of us that were for McCain did. And, a lot of people that I know voted for Obama not because they agreed with him (they didn't even watch any of the debates or know his platform) but because he was the first black candidate, and they wanted to help make history. To me, the color of someone's skin is a sorry excuse for voting for, or against, someone if you don't know what they stand for.

I know racism exists and it makes me sick. But, as I said before...ideally we are are supposed to be color blind. But if I complain about something Obama has done, I'm racist (not here...I'm talking in general life). If I qualify it was saying "it has nothing to do with him being black" that makes it worse. I'm looking at him as a person and the leader of this country. Other people are the ones that are concentrated on his race.

Sorry if I took this off topic, I just needed to vent. Back to the originally scheduled program.

What most people don't realize is that racism can be a lot more subtle than just flat out calling someone the N word. And I know that a lot of you have seen or experienced hateful demonstrations by the KKK or something that is very definitely racist, but this isn't at all the only way racism shows in our society. Most people just think of racism as hatred towards all blacks, burning their property, radical things like this- but in modern times sociologists study the very small subtle differences in how blacks and whites are treated and how they respond, not so much crazy hate group demonstrations anymore, which ARE criminal many times, so I won't say they aren't a problem but they have been socially defined as wrong which means for the most part society in the US agrees that they are wrong..
So of course the poster isn't racist. However in order to understand if there is racism behind it we would have to study the issue in a lot of detail and look at all of the past presidents and the level of "personal" criticism they received and what shape the criticism took, and compare it to Obama's presidency. And even then it is up to the person's interpretation. That's why I say we can't know for sure..
I guess some people can't understand what I'm talking about still think that I'm saying that if you disagree with Obama you are racist...

Oh, believe me, we are intelligent enough to "understand", we just don't agree.

I think it is counterproductive to over analyze everything in life. It is life, good bad and indifferent. I'll be darned if I will study "all the past presidents" to make a decision if a sign with Barack as the Joker is racist.

Frankly, I just don't care. I don't think it is racist and that is that for me.

While there is racism and it is ugly, I am sick of liberals telling me I am a flipping racist because I didn't vote for Barack and I don't like many of his stupid spending programs. If given enough rope he will hang this country out to dry and bankrupt us in the process, that is my opinion. If someone wants to call me a racist for that opinion, go for it.

FTR, "cheap tactics" are used with immunity by the far left every, single day.
No one has the corner on the market on cheap tactics.

A few tasteless signs at the Tea Party and all Tea Party people are racists.
People go to the Town Hall Meetings in August and let their feelings be known and the liberals and the liberal politicians call us names, "mobs", "nazis" "racists". It is my right as an American to disagree with the policies of the Congress and Barack and I don't appreciate being called names by the liberals and Pelosi and Reid and all those other idiots.

I see NO hope and I see NO change, except for the worse.
