Hello everyone!
I am Elaine, and I'm the proud "mother" of a new kitten, appropriately named Milo. About 2 weeks ago, my boyfriend and I went to a local reputable vet office in the area which had many kittens that needed adopting. We were originally going to adopt a female kitten at the humane society, but unfortunately she was being treated for a serious infection and passed away. However, as soon as we stepped into the vet's office our hopes increased tenfold as we heard a high-pitched meow. An orange tabby that was a tad older than the rest of the kittens caught our eye. Apparently he had been there a long time--before his eyes ever opened. Every employee loved the kitten, and he bonded with us immediately. We signed the adoption papers, set up appointments, and brought him home within the week.
I couldn't have adopted a better kitten. His personality is wonderful, a perfect balance of lapcat and playful. He is very inquisitive, which led us to name him Milo, like the movie Milo and Otis. He actually looks very similar to that cat.
I found you guys on the web when I was looking on research for owning a happy cat. I found many topics and troubleshooting things I was worried about, and had many answers solved. This is the first cat I've owned, even though I've been around them all my life, worked at a vet for 5 years and am currently enrolling at a school of Veterinary Medicine to receive my D.V.M. My boyfriend has had many cats be a part of his immediate family for all his life, so he's prepared for anything.
I already love Milo to bits and can tell he's going to be an important mark of my life. He is spoiled [but given only cat food, and is rewarded treats sparingly! Though the tuna I give more often than once a week..., loved, and give plenty of attention. His personality makes him the perfect kitty for my lifestyle [college student], and he is part of the family.
This website looks like a fun place to read cat stories, post some of my own, and get some of my questions solved. Believe me, you will be updated frequently of Milo's "escapades," for he has already had a couple himself in these first few weeks of living with me.
