Tonight, I was in our office, which also serves as our tortoiseshell Teresa's "private room." She does not get along with our other five cats. I had fed everyone and thought they were all settled down. Teresa kept jumping on the desk, then running to the door. I couldn't figure out why until I heard this very distinctive chirping meow.

We have two fosters, Thomas and Rachel, on our sunporch and one of them managed to open the door! They are part Siamese and Thomas was at Teresa's door, chirping away. By the time I got out there, my husband had cornered him in the bathroom and we got him back to the porch. It took us a little while but we finally found Rachel in the dining room.

I got them both settled and gave them a treat, which they tucked into quickly. The good news is they are both healthy, so I am not worried about our cats. The better news is that there were also no donnebrooks, hissing, growling or fighting.

Our cats look a little puzzled but no one's tail is puffed. In fact, they all took it in stride. MY heart was pounding however and the door to the sunporch is now locked. Its a bit like having a toddler in the house again!

Well, the foster kitties have been begging to come in since they realized there's another whole world on the other side of the porch door. Two of our cats have spent the last few days laying by that door, talking under it to the fosters.

As we are pretty sure we're not going to find homes for these two right away, what do you all think of us introducing everyone? Our cats have never been allowed on the porch because I reserve it for fosters.

The fosters, like three of our cats, are recovering ferals, so we have no problem with brining them in - it just that we can't see having 8 cats inside. We simply wouldn't have room then to foster.

Opinion anyone?
