Milo likes to lick photos, whether on the fridge or on the table whatever it may be, it is like he can smell a photo coming into the house and if he can get to it he will lick it!

Anyone else have this issue? What is he lacking that he does this? I feel like it's a viatmen issue or something?

There is something called Pica (peek-a). That is when a cat will crave an inatimate object to lick. My cat Jane likes to lick the heat registers. Go figure. I googled it and it has quite a bit of info on pica in felines. Good luck.

Pica is actually the eating of non food items. A constant licking of specific items is symptomatic of OCD, which in such a case could lead to Pica. Are you sure it's just photos he licks, anything else like magazines, windows? Is there a specific he is drawn to?

Riki (
) used to do that all the time to! And me being a BIG photography nut it was hard work keeping them hidden from her all the time.

I think there is something in the chemicals that some cats like. I wouldn't worry about it. Riki lived to be 15 years (or so) before she died of kidney failure. Licking photos for many many years along the way.

well now that you say it he loves tape too, like really sticky packing tape. He hears me use it and even if he is sleeping he comes running awaiting a taste of the tape
He is a crazy man! And now I am thinking he has OCD .. that along with his territorial aniextry disorder that makes him mark in the house ...
that guy tho!

I am going to check out Pee-ka on google. Thanks!

I used to LIGHTLY stick packing tape to Riki's (
) bum then watch her spin & spin trying to get it off. The stickies you get off socks were the best
.

I really don't think there is anything that wrong with your cat!! He's just a little wierd like mine was
. Does he also enjoy dry fish heads, lay down on command and likes to lay on hot garage roofs?

HAHAHAHA Nes, your funny!
Milo is a charater at best. He likes to open fist/nails smack me in the head at random, he likes to literally fly across the room and land whever he does
and LOVEs it when I put tape on him bum and spin and spin! Ok, chalk it up as a weirdo cat...
to not being alone!!

Fish heads tho? Oh my!

SO funny..........Maia is my first kitty who from day one, as a kitten, if you stuck a piece of tape on her, she just reached back and pulled it off with her mouth
. Then give this look like "Really, that's just stupid and annoying"
.
MTBee, I would keep an eye on your guy, you just don't want him to start eating things that could be dangerous. Like ribbon, dental floss, tape, plastics can cause intestinal twisting and blockage.
Your boy sounds like a silly kitty!

Traditional silver halide prints will contain a small ammount of gelatin other papaers may use gelatin in sizing.

One of my favorite papers is a Tibetan art paper that looks like lapis lazuli. It uses a sheep brain sizing.

Your cat is probably reacting to a chemical--mostly likely gelatin--in the photographic print.

Remember, photographs are actually complex multi-layered objects which is why the present so many challenges in preservation.

Riki (
) was a hoot & a half, she would chase her tail well into her teens but was scared of her shadow, I miss her very much she was my little kitty-soul mate. Actually Peaches reminds me of her in ALLOT of ways, it's really weird, I keep thinking I'm seeing Riki out of the corner of my eye...

Elastic bands just placed around the tail (not tight AT all, just throw it over your cat's tail) ALSO a hilarious game when supervised
.

MBW - That is REALLY interesting!! MTB, maybe see if he likes Jello?

Nes - After reading Musical's post first thing that came to mind was some cherry Jello for Milo! Little "Jello" addict he is!!! Thanks for the photo knowledge Musical, I can sort-of understand now why Milo is attracted to it... not exactly sure what chemical he is liking the best! If only he could talk!

I do the rubber band game with Milo what he does is literally throw his self on the ground (similar to when I put a collar on him) he thinks I am putting him in a straight jacket or something
when collar and rubber band is loose as can be.

Gosh our cats are just funny kitties!!

Maia sounds like a girl girl cat, is she? Like why Mom, tell me why did you do that to me? Sheesh!
Gotta love em!

I do worry about Spookahontas she, for some reason loves to find rubber bands and chew on them!
