we got through the night and Cedar slept quite well although quite restless.

Unfortunatly he is just not good. Chris has gone to work and I have sent the girls to daycare for an extra day. I will be calling the specialist soon (it's almost 9am on Thursday here). I believe I need to make 'that' decision now but will be asking for some honest advise. I do know my boy though and this is not him
I have just spent $1600.00 in the past 2 days on tests and yet, I can not do anything to help him

Dan, asking the vet their opinion is a smart thing to do. I did the same when I was in your situation. You may also want to ask Cedar's regular vet their opinion. The decision is ultimately yours, but ask the questions so if you decide it is time, you won't be second-guessing yourself quite as much later. Molly ended up letting us know when it was time.

I wish I could say something to take away the pain and I wish I were closer.

talk to the vets first they will give you an honest opinion, then sit with cedar speak to him softly look into his eyes and he will let you know
