It has been four months

Hi

I'm new here. I've been trolling and found that it was finally time to post.

I have a 11 year old cat Penny I adore. This summer I rescued a kitten, Violet. I worked very hard to integrate the two. They have now been living together for four months, and things are going "ok".

The main problem I'm having is that Violet wants to play. She is a kitten. She attacks Penny all the time. Penny isn't really up for it. She then goes into attack mode. She is a lot of hissing and growling. It doesn't stop. It happens all day.

Right now its lovely, but we are all tuckered out and sleeping. I know that a bit later that Penny will swish her tail, and Violet will go out for an attack.

I don't know if I've waited to long to fix this. Or should I even fix this. Will it eventually figure itself out. I just am tired of all the fighting and its getting louder.

To some extent, as the kitten ages, it will catch on that the older cat doesn't want to play. That won't keep it from the occasional wrestling match, however.

When you know your older cat doesn't want to play and the kitten does, step in and divert the kitten with some kind of other toy (like a feather toy or wand toy). Also, initiate play with your kitten at various times so that she'll get tired out and will leave the older kitty alone. As the kitten gets older, she'll be less rambunctious (we can hope!) and she'll probably terrorize the older kitty less.
