We just got home about 8pm from the show. Jack went in as an open to pick up the winners ribbons. So we didn't expect anything and for 5 rings that is the way it went.
There was about 10 Burmese (mostly grands) in the alter class and a few other cats - 25 total shorthairs. In the first ring the judge finaled 4 Burms, and then it got worse in each ring when the judges were finalling 5 or 6 Burms! We were getting frustrated as the judges seemed not to look past the Burmese class as to the other cats there!
But finally in the last ring (speciality - Jaeger) - she called Jack back for finals. Up to this point no opens got finals in the other rings. She called a blue Aby open and Jack up in her finals.
Figured a 10th best (since he was open) but NO way - he went all the way to 4th Best Cat and beat every single Burm in the finals (5 of them)!
So at least we got our winners ribbons and managed to bring home one final
