We just got home about 8pm from the show. Jack went in as an open to pick up the winners ribbons. So we didn't expect anything and for 5 rings that is the way it went.

There was about 10 Burmese (mostly grands) in the alter class and a few other cats - 25 total shorthairs. In the first ring the judge finaled 4 Burms, and then it got worse in each ring when the judges were finalling 5 or 6 Burms! We were getting frustrated as the judges seemed not to look past the Burmese class as to the other cats there!

But finally in the last ring (speciality - Jaeger) - she called Jack back for finals. Up to this point no opens got finals in the other rings. She called a blue Aby open and Jack up in her finals.

Figured a 10th best (since he was open) but NO way - he went all the way to 4th Best Cat and beat every single Burm in the finals (5 of them)!

So at least we got our winners ribbons and managed to bring home one final

What's your "year" schedule? Ours runs from May 1 thru April 30 in all 3 associations (CFA, ACFA, TICA).

Our shows run from March until October (between October-March is Spring/Summer and that's when we hear the pitter patter of little feet)

I am glad you got a 4th best.
Wow that is alot of Burmese.
Is it hard to final opens?
I was told it is when Cleo made 2 finals a a open.
I looked at the judges list and Harding finaled Cleo at her last show.
Cleo got 2nd and 7th best as a open.
I wonder what Wrinkles will do?
When is Jacks next CFA show?

Jacky - yes, most judges in CFA won't final Opens unless they are very good. The premiers/champions need the points and the grands need the points for regional/national wins - so most probably feel that Opens don't "need" the wins.

Now in ACFA (and probably TICA - since I don't know their score system) - the judges will final Opens a lot more, because any final they get will count towards their Grand and for regional/national wins.

Jack's 2 October shows are ACFA. The next CFA is January and we may go to another CFA that is fairly close (Iowa) in February just so we can try to get points - other then that; there are only 2 CFA shows in my area a year. Got plenty of ACFA shows to go to

As far as Wrinkles - if you can try to get a picture of both of them side by side, I'll tell you who is better

I know that Jack has more better qualities then Charlie if putting them against each other

I just adore Barb Jeager
Been trying to get her out here for about a year now to no avail. Well done Jack! I assume he became a Pr at the show?

Yep - 6 rings, 6 winners ribbons - nothing to go against. Nancy brought 2 kittens (tawny & lavender) - only the 3 Oci's in the show (no championship ones).

But Minneapolis (or St. Paul) is holding the 2010 Annual - so hoping we can get the east coast Oci breeders over here. I'm gonna try to get them all to bring something in EVERY Ocicat color - doesn't matter kitten, cat, or alter as long as we can do it.

I will get pictures later.
Remember Wrinkles will be 13 weeks old this week.
We will see what happens with Cleo in tICA thi weekend since it is her first TICA show.
Of course I will be showing Ty also.
Good luck with Jack.
I was told the same thing when Cleo finaled as a open.

Congrats on the premier! That reminds me of when I showed my Maine Coon Roxy) in TICA the one time. She'd only shows as a HHP before in CFA due to her extra toes but TICA has the "New Traits" category. She was the only cat in the category though so she just won 1st every time and that's all since NT cannot get points.

It should be interesting when I go to my second TICA show next weekend, I'm showing a tabby/white and a torbie/white HHP so they will competing against each other in their division. Unfortunately most of my kitties are tabby/white (except Roxy who is solid black) so I can't help that.
We also don't have many TICA shows in the area, the only ones left this show year are the one I am going to, and two in Wisconsin which I may or may not be able to attend since I'd have to stay overnight.

How great would that be
I don't think Fawn exists over here, so wouldn't be possible.

Found out the CFA annual doesn't include a show - so that's out.

Amanda, you have the 12 colors in Oci's - so you have fawn (maybe there are no fawn spotted, but it does exist and is in the color standards).

Tawny, Chocolate, Cinnamon, Blue, Lavender, Fawn
Black Silver, Choco-Silver, Cinn-Silver, Blue-Silver, Lavender-Silver, and Fawn-Silver.
