My DH uses a spreadsheet for the whole budget and check register. The budget sheet...whew, it's a doozy of formulas, etc. We just sit down and go over where the money is, and I ask how much "free" money I have. I love excel. I might use that to track my spending. I have been doing that with coupon deals.
