On Aug 25 my sister had a brain aneurysm that ruptured. She's having a shunt inserted tomorrow which should relieve the pressure on her brain and help her recover more quickly, get her to rehab and on the way to regaining her life!

I'll let you all know how it goes and thanks.

The operation took about 2 hours and the neurosurgeon said we should begin to see improvement in about 2 - 3 days. She was awake in ICU, but didn't know me or what had happened to her. I hope she doesn't mind being bald!

Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes; keep 'em coming. Her future is unclear, but I have great faith and hope that all will work out for the best.

Lots of vibes and love
coming your way. My brother had a berry aneurysm rupture when he was 27. He had to have three surgeries and spent months in the hospital. He has had no long term affects and is now 14 years out from the rupture.

I know what a long and terrifying road your sister and your family is on. Just take it one day at a time.

Thank you for telling me that; it gives me hope. It's just she and I and I have to tell you I am exhausted! Holly's husband died last Feb. and this will go down as one of the worst years in our lives, that's for sure. I'm basically an optimistic person and am passing that onto her because she's needs all the "good vibes" I can give her.
Thanks to all!
Cathy

09-26-09: Holly was awake more today that she was asleep, which is very good. She still doesn't know who I am, and I'm praying that changes. Bless all for your prayers and vibes.

Holly's been more alert, but is still unable to carry on a conversation or recognize me. Everyone says this is normal, but the sobering news is that only 30% of survivors regain full functionality. I am praying Holly is one of the 30%!

Her recovery's already been so great from what was predicted in the beginning. It seems to me she is a fighter, and I will keep praying that things get better and better for her.

MEGA vibes that she's one of those 30% - that her recovery is quick and complete!

...and get some sleep if you can! for you, for strength.
