I hope I have put this in the right place.
As farmers in france we have to come up to the european norms, and many farmers are paying a fourtune to do so.
One of the things we have to do is change our slurry pits to all singing all dancing new fancy ones ( they would make lovely swimming pools) we have to get profesionals to build it but first we have to get the digger men in to dig the hole. Getting a guy in with a digger in this part of france is always a nightmare, so after many frantic phone calls and driving over to find him and after two months of waiting he finally arrived, one large digger and one small. Most of the guys that do this kind of work are farm boys so one would think that they knew what they were doing
but no here is a photo of works after about an hour

The guy just managed to get out with his life after driving right into the old slurry pit

It took two more diggers and a tractor to get him out.

Well, no wonder it takes so long to get him to come out -- he's busy being hauled out of pits!

Forgive me, but I'm not sure... what's a slurry pit? Is it like a septic tank?

Yes, the slurry pit is a bit like a septic tank but for the cows so a lot bigger. The new one we are having built is round, 3mtrs deep and about 12mtrs across, so as I said would make a wonderful swimming pool, so sad we have to use it for cow ****.
