This happens every time I wear certain fragrance - Ku Ku goes NUTS and literally searches for "the scent" by walking around & sniffing every where, even starts licking wherever she (thinks) finds a spot where probably a mist was on.
She acts just like when she's on catnip-craze...

Anybody seen this on your babies?

What scent is it?

I've noticed most cats will respond to mint and menthol type smells. I always assumed it was because catnip is a type of mint and there was enough similarity to cause a goofy reaction to the smell. Cats will respond to other close plants, too, like valerian.

Oil of thyme is probably the culprit - it is in many fragrances as the 'green' note and is also in several otc rubs for sore muscles. Also may be oil of peppermint (or other mint)

What scent were you wearing? Eu de Catnip? When I use mentholatum ointment, Dusty will come up for pettings and when she smells it, she gets this look on her face like "yucky!" and will leave!

These 2 particular fragrances: 900 & L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme Summer 2006.
Both are greeny scent...not too sure if any of them contains valerian, though.

Hmmmm... I don't think any of them contains thyme or peppermint.
Ku Ku doesn't seem to enjoy peppermint.
I first thought both may contain a hint of musk or something but I don't think that's the case either.

Ku Ku is completely opposite - she runs away when she smells BenGay or anything similar.

OK, I just did a quick research - 900 contains: Lemon, Bergamot, Rosewood, Carnation, Orris, Geranium, Moss, Patchouli, Vetiver.
I couldn't find much on the other one, except: rosemary, nutmeg and coriander.

Any of them related to catnip or mint?
