...did anybody watch is first show last night. I have always favored Leno rather than Letterman and can't stand Conan. Since Leno left late night I have missed him terribly. Watching his new show at 10pm just seemed weird for me, I hope he makes it but I have some doubt. Once the fall shows come back he will have a lot of competition in that time slot. Good luck Jay.

Leno really wasn't that entertaining last night, not sure I'll turn it on tonight.

Conan was unbelievably hilarious last night
I was up WAY too late watching because I just couldn't turn it off I was laughing so hard! Then again I'm a big Simpsons fan too

I watched it. I'm going to give him time to catch his feet. I did notice that he was uncomfortable sitting in a chair without a desk in such an informal interview. Having Kanye West with his recent MTV Video awards controversy, on didn't help matters either. Lots of silence.

I wasn't sure about all the skit stuff at the beginning. I kind of tuned out of that. I did enjoy his headlines, that was one of my favourite spots on his other show. Sorry that it was so rushed to the end and that he kept referring to the news and the news went right in without a commercial break.

I do hope he succeeds because she sure got a raw deal. The other tonight shows hosts retired on their own before they were replaced. Conan who is nothing special threatened to jump ship from that network if they didn't give him the tonight show spot. So in their bid to keep him, they canned Leno in favour of Conan, whom I just can't stand. He has no sophistication about him at all and is all about very lame humour.

Are you referring to the stunts? That was pretty funny. The looks and comments he made after the stunt was explained to him about what he had to do were hysterical. However, that was one of a few times I've found him funny. Mosty I find him quite annoying.

I did see that Andy guy is back with him. Didn't he leave several seasons ago?

Tonight - second show (9/15/09) - turned it off when Michael Moore started his propaganda about rich people having "95% of the pie" - wonder what people, like Leno, think about themselves as having most of the pie - he's one of the rich, isn't he?

I don't get why all the rich, that support this idea, don't seem to understand that this sort of thinking wants to take away their hard earned money. ?

Jay Leno is ok but I hope that either this new show fails or it gets moved to another time slot. I'm really ticked off because Law & Order: SVU got moved from 10 pm Tuesdays to 9 pm Wednesdays, which is when Glee is on. Under normal circumstances I could just watch SVU when the reruns are shown on USA or NBC a week later. But since the character of Alex Cabot will be back for about 10 episodes, I cannot miss that. I cannot wait for the reruns. These are the only two shows I watch on network TV and they come on at the same time. Can you believe that? Geez!

Can't you just tape or Tivo other shows when two are on at the same time. I always do that so I can enjoy all my favorite programs.

Leno was #1 for all the years he was on but he had said he wanted out in 2009 many years ago so they kept him to his word. So now I'm stuck with Letterman cuz as I said Conan is really terrible and quite silly most of the time. I guess there is an audience for everyone tho. I wouldn't mind seeing Conan fail and then bring back Jay, that would be so cool.

I like David Letterman. He can be brash at times, but he is usually consistently funny. And I love how he responds to his guests.

So far as Conan goes, I have never liked him. I remember when he debuted as the host of that Late Late show. Terrible! Stiff and unfunny! And he had no on air experience. I think he was a writer. So why he got that job I don't know. I just find him way too manic and immature. I rarely tuned into his Late Late show, and I now that he's on The Tonight Show, I doubt I'll be tuning into that any more frequently than I did his other show.. which was almost never and never for more than a few minutes.

To me Carson and then Leno were The Tonight Show!

In 2004 Jeno was contemplating retiring. At the same time Conan heard this he threatened to leave the network for another network unless he was given The Tonight Show. Because the network didn't want more competition, they promised The Tonight Show to Conan when Leno eventually retired. However, there was no start date for him. In 2007, Conan started making waves about wanting a start date, so they came up with 2009. By then, Leno had changed his mind about retiring and wanted to stay on, but the Producers decided that they didn't want to lose Conan to another network, so they forced Leno into retirement. Had they not done that he would have remained with the show.
