So my friend down the street called me and said one of our neighbors further down called her and told her that the kitten we've all been catching sight of for a day or two followed them home and did she know anybody that wants a cat. They are dog people who recently lost their last old dog and don't want to have anymore pets right now. Their daughter is coming in town tomorrow for the weekend with her Lab who is very strong and they fear would hurt the kitty. My friend has an Airedale and fears for what would happen to kitty. I told her let's make it a cooperative effort. We walked down to the neighbor's house together, found the kitty and fed him. He's about 4-5 months old, black, shorthaired, handsome and very affectionate and purry. We think he was dumped. He's definitely a pet! So we got him to follow me home. I fed him still more (total of about one can) and filled a bowl of water for him. Just got inside from sitting out with him and loving all over him. Plan is for her to call one of the reputable rescues here (Shamrock, where I got Gigi) while I'm at work tomorrow and hopefully we'll get him to them sometime this weekend. He'll make someone a lovely pet! He needs a home ASAP and needs to be neutered ASAP! I'd take him but my DH would kill me. So for now he's on my porch with a full belly and a bowl full of water at his disposal. He should be fine for now. I'll spend some more time with him before I go to bed.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
No way to contain him to a bathroom or guest room or something until you can find room for him at a rescue?

If not, hope he hangs out until you can place him somewhere he'll be safe.
