Heavily Pregnant Stray!!!

You won't believe it. Right when I'm talking about PREVENTING my cat from getting pregnant, I find a pregnant stray. She is heavily pregnant but I can't tell how many kittens she has or when she is due to have the babies.

WOW.
I asked around and someone across the street told me that she's been around and he's been feeding her. He planned to take her to the pound today, but I assured him that I would take care of it if he didn't want to continue caring for her. So now she's in my house. I have her separated from my cat so she's in the laundry room. She seems very shy but hasn't bitten me or anything. She just keeps her distance but she did eat a whole can of wet food. I have absolutely no idea how to care for her. She's terribly huge, and she is even leaking a small amount of milky discharge. She seems to be an older cat, maybe around 3 or 4 years old and from the information I could get, she's been a stray for several months now. :/

Bless you for taking this little mama in! Start feeding her kitten food right now. Best bet is to find some old towels and a box to make her a nest. It could be any day now. But someone more experienced will come along that will give you more info.

Thanks! I couldn't let her go to the pound.
I just set up a box with some old warm towels inside and she's in there now, sleeping. Probably getting used to it. I do have some kitten food, I will give that to her when she wakes up. I did try feeling for some movement and couldn't feel anything though. I hope the babies are OK

She's now meowing a lot! She must be angry that I have her locked up in one room when she's used to roaming the streets.

just keep her inside. She will be safer there. And remember, after she has the kittens, she can go into heat right away and get pregnant again. That wouldn't be very healthy for the babies she will be feeding and the new kits too.

Oh, no worries, she will not get pregnant again. Last night she had a great time tossing old sheets all over the floor in the laundry room, I'm guessing she's bored?

I did get her some kitten food which she ate right up. She's not drinking her water though. I filled up her bowl and its still very full so I am worried about that. And when she walks, she kind of waddles and sometimes she just collapses and can't get up. Is this normal?

And I still can't feel babies but its obvious she's pregnant and not fat. Shouldn't I be able to feel them at this stage? She is leaking more milk.

PS: I decided to name her Tanya.
