Dusty's anus looks bright pink and a little puffy. It doesn't seem to bother her, and there is no blood or messy poop. Her poop is quite solid. She doesn't seem to be at all uncomfortable - no scratching or licking - nothing.

Should I be concerned, since it doesn't seem to bother her?

Is that serious? Does she need to see the vet? What do anal glands do?

You could do a search and find it on here, I think. They are two little glands, one on each side of the anus, and they produce scent. Both males and females have them, and they are usually emptied when the cat defecates. They can get plugged up, especially if the cat has soft stool problems, and they can get infected. You can empty them yourself, if you've seen it done, but the smell is really stomach-turning. The vet usually does it.

Your cat COULD just be having some constipation, too. This may require a quick vet visit.
