Hello Everyone,
My sweet baby Patches has had her babies. She had five healthy babies today between 3:00pm and 5:30pm. Her and the babies are both doing very well. She is being such a wonderful mother (I am very proud of her) She was very scared at first and kelpt trying to get up and walk even while pushing, I felt so sorry for her. We put her in the bathtub and closed the shower doors and this really seemed to calm her alot, I would sit with her and open the doors and pet her on the head between contractions. After delivering we put her and her sweet babies in their box and she has not left them once yet. I put some canned food in with her and watched while she ate she acted as if she was starved, if this was the wrong thing to do please someone let me know. I was also wondering if everything seems fine with her and the babies do I need to take her to the vet for a after delivery check-up or do I wait till the babies are older? Yes she will be getting spayed as soon as she is done nursing. If anyone has any advice please feel free to let me know, I really want to do what is right for Patches and her babies.

Congratulations!!!

Are all the kittens nursing? Everyone look ok? What colors are they?

Patches needs food now, she's making milk for the kittens. She should be eating kitten food, it's higher in calories.

Make sure she passed all the after birth. I hope you counted tham before she ate them. This is the only thing I can think of that can cause a problem. I like to take the moms to the vet the day after kittening just to make sure all the kittens were born.

Hello Sue and Thanks.
Yes all the babies are nursing and she is cleaning them often. Abot 2 hours ago I put the food in the box with her and waited till she finished it and then removed the dish. She does not act like she wants to get out away from them, so after I knew she had finished delivering I feed her. Yes I am giving her kitten food, have been since I joined The Cat Site. They all look and act healthy. 3 are tiger striped and the other 2 look like mom which is white with tiger striped patches. How often should I feed her if she does not want to leave them?

Yes she passed an after each kitten, then ate each one. I was lucky enough to be able to be home with her during the whole birthing process and I watched for this after seeing it on some of the threads in here. I really do thank my lucky stars for finding this site. It has truely been alot of help and a wealth of information for me. If I take her to the vet for a check-up tomorrow should I take the kittens with us? I really don't mean to sound stupid I just don't know much about this.

Valerie you are a good kitty mom- thank you for sharing your story. I am glad your wait is over now.
We want pictures you know! And yes 24 hours after the last kitten is delivered, the whole family needs to go to the vet. Congrats again!

I will post pictures as soon as I can get a good shot of them. I have there box set up with an opening at the top that is just big enough for mommy to get in and out. She has come out now so I feed her again. Birthing must take alot out of them she has ate in 3 hours what she would normally eat in a day.

Well, I called the vet today he said if I seen all the placentas, is nursing, eating and drinking that I didn't need to bring her in right now. He told me to just watch for the above items fever or her not acting herself. The babies are all doing well, I put food in with her every few hours she still don't really like leaving them for long. She did come out around 11:30 last night for about 15 minutes of petting and love.

Congrat's Valarie.....looks like we are together on this one, I just got home from work to find that Angel has had 2 of hers and one was coming out so I ran to the computer and turned it on and now telling ya'll.

As far as her placentas after each one I don't know because I have been at work all day. She was fine this morning when I left.

Going back to check on her....

Cathy
