You need to watch the video here to see what this small business owner says about health reform.
It isn't that small business doesn't want affordable health insurance. They do. But why or why does it have to be all or nothing in one bill? Can't we have tort reform and competition across state lines without throwing in all the other 999 pages?
Or let SB owners / self employed deduct out-of-pocket premiums on the bottom of Form 1040 and not go through the rigamarole of the Schedule A and only deduct what exceeds 7.5 % of income so we are not penalized for having our own businesses instead of working for a big one. I understand that that is not a tasty option as it would lower tax revenues. The logical alternative that has been proposed has been to tax health care benefits paid to employes of large corporations. Of course their CEOs squawk when you propose THAT so I don't see this playing field leveling anytime soon.
It doesn't have to be all or nothing as far as I'm concerned but I'd like to see something change and I find that too many people are saying that everything is fine when it isn't. At the rate we are going NOTHING is going to happen and the arch conservatives will be claiming victory at having shot something down.
