Hi, my cat Bailey got hit by a car 2 days ago. The vet said that she has a broken tibia and a dislocated hip. He immobilized her leg and gave her antibiotics. She's at home now and I wanted to know if anyone has had a similar situation and how long it took for your cat to recover. I'm not sure how long to wait before letting her try to move around. Thank you in advance for your insight!

Of course I would double check with your vet, but I would try to keep her from moving around at least another day or two, just to give things a chance to set, but that's just me.

My chihuahua broke her leg last summer and she wasn't allowed to move around at all for 3 to 4 weeks...she was kept in a kennel and a playpen with not alot of space to get around ...she was allowed outside to pee but she was leashed and carried outside ...If its going to heal correctly then IMO she needs total cage rest for at least 2 weeks...But to be sure check with your vets ..Good luck keeping them immobile isn't fun for either cat or human but its necessary for the breaks to heal...
