How do I know what type of cat our tailless kittens are? We rescued the mother cat and she was pregnant. She has a very short tail. The kittens either have just a little skin and fur where a tail should be, or just a tiny tail. They are Grey and black color, with spots and stripes. Does this mean that they are at least part Manx, Bobtail, or can any breed of cat be born tailless? Thanks for any help.

Tailess cats are a genetic mutation, a Manx is a pedigreed cat.

The tailless gene is present in all cats - mixed or purebred. Just because there is a short or no tail, doesn't mean its any one of those breeds. Most people say "Manx" for any cat born without a tail...which is not true.
