Hello everyone:

I'm so sad and upset that i can't even think clear! My Lucas has Lupus, but he was doing perfectly fine with his treatment, the thing is he can't be under stress because he gets sick. Well, my cousins came to visit from Chicago and Lucas can't deal with strangers in the house. He has been hiding under the bed, not eating , scared to death for three days now. I know my family is important, but I'm so angry!!!! They are here on vacation and they are having fun while my baby is suffering and is sick. I know this sounds awful but I just want them to go!

Right now, Lucas has a high fever of 105, his face is red , his eyes are red and swollen, he is fatiged and he is just miserable

I will take him to the vet tomorrow, I'm so upset! I hate seeing him sick again, he was doing so great untilnow.

Sorry, I needed to vent

Thank you all so much. The attacks will stop once they are gone, but I was so excited becaus I had him on1 prednisolone pill every two days and niw the vet told me he has to take the pills everyday for at least two weeks again until he gets better, and then I have to start working on lowereing the doses again. This is awful, this is a setback for my Lucas. I'm so sad.

poor Lucas.

Sending lots of that he bounces back quickly and you can get him back on a lower dose before too long.

Oh Tamar I am sorry to see this. Sometimes as much as we try to protect our special needs kitties from stress, there is no avoiding it. I know how heart sick you are, but it sounds like you know there is a plan of action to take, to nurse dear Lucas back to health.

Let us know how the vet visit goes.

Hi! Tahnk you so much for caring
Lucas is doing a little better now, I took him to the vet and I explained to him what was happening and he told me to give him a pill of prednisolone 5mg everyday for one week. My cousins and uncle will be leaving on Wednesday, so i hope he starts getting better after that. Right now he is more relaxed because they left to go to the beach, but he is still sick

I was so happy because I was able to lower his pred doses, but now, I have to start that process all over again. I love him so much, and I hate to see him so sick

Aaaww so sorry for you both, not a fun situation for sure! Hope Lucas feels better soon. He is a cutie by the way, and your other babies too!

My Samson hides under the bed whenever I get company over... I don't know why, he never used to do that. Anyways I let him hide there and I check in on him every once in a while and just talk to him softly, just in case it might help. He usually comes out once he's hungry or the company is gone. Funny huh?

Hopefully your Lucas will bounce back!

Thank you for the update Tamar.

Try to look at it as maintenance, now. Now you know there are times Lucas is going to need a higher dose of the medicine. Knowing that this will help him in extra stressful situations is a good thing. When the stressor is gone, you can slowly get him back to the lowest possible dose.

Maintaining the health of a special needs kitty is never status quo. There are always going to be adjustments in the treatment as life happens.
It's truly a roller coaster ride! (needless to say, always worth it!
)

Please keep us posted.
