I have recieved coffee cups in my SS package before no problem, and I've shipped breakables before as well. You just need to be sure to package your items well. Pad them, bubble wrap, peanuts, whatever it takes. That will add to your weight too though, so if you get an overseas person you may spend a lot more for it.

That's what we normally do. If you don't have a name yet, there really isn't any point to having a Hints thread.

I am the exact same way. One good thing to remember too is to check the previous years hints thread as well for the person you have and you can see what they said that year too!

If they have been in the Spotlight you can get a lot of ideas from that also.

If we put up the hints thread when signups end it gives something to distract you so you don't keep asking "When are we going to get our names".
Believe me, we want to get them to all of you as soon as possible.

I've been waiting for this!
I had so much fun last year shopping for my recipient: I look forward to participating again this year, too!


I'm a little worried about rule #5 though.
I haven't been posting much lately (due to personal & health-related issues) and I'm not sure if I qualify to participate.
Does the "paying member" rule override rule #5? I'd sure hate to miss out because I haven't been too active lately..

Yep, being a paying member has it's perks; it does override the 10 posts rule (as well as the length of time you've been a member and the number of posts rules). You did have enough posts to qualify though even if you weren't a paying member.

I'm in again!
I had sooo much fun last year - even though my SS didn't come through. My kitties didn't go without though, thanks to the generosity of the "elves".


I can't wait to find out who I get so I can start shopping!!

Pack it good and roll it in newspaper or bubble wrap. And if you get me again, send extra bubble wrap! My dogs love it!

Wow...I had no idea how hard it would be to not start shopping until I got my name for this year.

I keep wanting to looka round for stuff but I'm so worried I'd end up with a pile of things that my SS would dislike.

I haven't signed up, but I keep seeing lots of cute stuff! The latest was a Kong Hugga Wubba cat toy at PetSmart, on sale for $3.
