Morning All!!

Today's question pertains to answering machines and voice mail recordings:

We lost power over-night due to another thunderstorm and one of the things I had to reset this morning was my answering machine message. This got me to thinking about other peoples messages.

So the question is What does your answering machine or voice mail message say? Is it the standard message included in the product? Do you record your formal message like "I am unavailable at this time" and so on? Or is it unique to you?

If you were to phone my home and get my machine this is what you would hear.
"If it's important you know what to do".

ours is a standard "You've reached *phone number* please leave a msg and we will return your call as soon as possible" or something along those lines.

I used to do silly msgs when younger, but changed it to a more "business" like msg when I was job hunting a back 5-6yrs ago.

"Hi, you called ***-***-****, we can not come to the phone right now; please leave a message after the tone, and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Thank you, and have a great day!"

Call phone is pretty similar, but it says my name, and "I" instead of "we"...

As my mother says I need to SMILE more in my voice mail message..All it says is "Hey its Tyler..Leave a message and Ill get back to you" but according to her is sounds pissy so Im thinking of changing it and singing (and Im tone deaf) you are my sunshine! LMAO!! That should get her laughing next time she calls and I ignore her!

Our's says "Hi, you have reached (insert phone number). We can't come to the phone right now, so please leave a message and we'll call you back." I don't like putting our name(s) in the message for some reason. On my cell phone it has the same message but I do have my name instead of the phone number.

At one point many years ago we had the "Hello??.....Hello??....Hello, are you there?....Just kidding! We're not able to come to the phone right now, blah blah blah." Like I had answered the phone but couldn't hear the person on the other end. One of our friends actually fell for it, it was pretty funny. LMAO!

Since I am a single woman, living alone, I had my Dad record the message. It's simple: "Hi, you have reached (insert phone number). We can't come to the phone right now, so please leave a message." I had my number changed when I broke up with Psycho Dan, and he was stalking me. I needed to add the phone number, because the hospital calls sometimes when I'm on call. I thought I'd confirm the number, because they might be confused when they hear a man's voice, since pretty much everyone knows I'm very happily single.

I'd like to do that!

Ours is just the standard "you've reached such & such, blah blah blah"
I wish it came with a robo-message, 'cos I would definitely use that. I hate the way my voice sounds on tape!

Me, too. People who know me think they have the wrong number because it just doesn't sound like me.

Our message is the typical "We can't come to the phone right now; please leave a short message after the beep. Thank you."

"Hello. This is voicemail for Fran and Rob. We may be out. We may be up to our elbows in something. At any rate, we seldom pick up the phone if we don't recognize the number, so if you want to talk to us, please leave a message. If we're around and not otherwise occupied, it may even get you a quick call back. Have a good day."

We prefer not to put our phone number in the message -- if the caller meant to call us, they know what number they called, and our first names are usually sufficient to confirm it. And if they didn't mean to call us, we'd rather not give out our number to just anybody.

My cellphone message is less chatty...

"Hi. This is Fran's voicemail. I can't take your call just now, but leave me a message and I'll call back as soon as I can. Thanks."

When the answering machine on the house phone is connected (shortage of electical outlets, I can't use it in the summer when I need the plug for my window unit) it's the pre recorded nobody is availiable to take your call etc.

As my cell phone is prepaid and has caller ID I don't set up the voice mail. If I want to know what they have to say I'll call back the number on my caller ID, no need wasting minutes listening to it twice. To often I would have seven or eight messages that went something like this: Nana, Mama said I could stay at your house tonight, call me back. then two minutes later, Nana, when are you going to call me back. And on and on until I got out of the bathtub or Walmart dead zone or whatever and checked my messages.

"You have reached Natalie and Josh, we are unavailable at the moment, please leave a message and we'll call you back!"

As I am laughing through the entire thing.

Mine is just whatever the company uses and I just recorded my name on it. I hate recording my own message.
