Personality change in mummy cats

Hi everyone,

I have two cats, Pig and Dave (it suits them, promise), who have both recently become mummys to a joint total of nine balls of fluff

They're both coping beautifully and share the care of the babies, however they seem to have had some kind of personality swap which started during the last week of their pregnancy.

Pig used to be one of those cats who would only give you the time of day on her terms, whereas Dave was "the actual friendliest cat in the world ever", almost to the point of irritation - now they seem to have switched completely.

Dave now seems to just not like anyone unless she's in the nesting box whilst Pig wants to be everyone's friend and show off her babies as much as possible.

Is this normal??? I've had them checked and physically they're both in peak condition, are they likely to revert back to type once the kittens are weaned and is having them spayed likely to change them again?

Either way they're being spayed, and I love them to bits, it would be nice to know other people's experiences tho.

You've never been pregnant! It's just hormones and protectiveness over the kittens, they should go back after the babies are weaned.

As hubby said to me last night "You were so much friendlier with Lucas" as an elbow went flying toward his head... (well he deserved it, he told me I didn't look fat!! )
