Hello,

I posted in the newbie section, but I need help naming my little kitty. She is a female orange tabby with a broken tail. I adopted her from the SPCA, she just looked like she needed a good home.

Edit: She is supposed to be 9 months and she came with the name Mischa, but I don't know. I don't think Mischa fits and I think she is younger than 9 months.

Pumpkin was the first name that came to me too!

She's a doll!
She looks so thin though
She will thrive in your care. I can't wait to see pictures of her in a month or so. I bet she fills out nicely!

Over the river and through the woods...
Dawn was the first thing that came to mind, then maybe sunny. She reminds me SO much of my Harley (that would work too). Vibrant red cats are rare around here (barn cats). Was her tail actually broken at one point? Or was she born that way? Reason I ask is some of the cats around here have either no tail, half tail, or kinky tail and it's either genetic or the way they were laying in the womb. Corky was named that because her tail was bent in 3 places when she was born because of her postition in the womb.

Hey, that's another name you may consider...Kinky.

Another edit....are you sure this is a female? Most orange tabbies I see are male...kind of like more calicos are female. If you adopted her from an organization I hope they got the sex right. Just most orange tabbies around here are male. Actually, I've never met an orange tabbie that is female...but maybe I just need to get out more.

Yes, she is female, she has already been spayed. (Unless they messed up her paperwork, but she has a shaved belly and a healing incision) Orange tabbies have about a 20% chance of being female.

It's funny you said..Kinky, that's what hubby says I should call her. I adopted her from the SPCA and they said she was a stray so I don't know what happened to her tail, but I figure it was broken at some point.

I'm not very inventive with names. I called my orange female Goldy because of her golden eyes.

It's hard to tell her age from the pictures. What, specifically, makes you think she's younger than 9 months? Does she still have her baby teeth? Are her ears and paws too big for the rest of her? If it's just her small size there could be other reasons. She may just be a small cat, or she may be malnourished, especially since she was a stray.

Peach. Zigzag .. for her tail. Tangerine or Tangie (with a soft g like a J).

Ginger. Mango. Clementine. (Orangey or spicy food on the mind, I guess.)

Someone else suggested Corky - like a corkscrew. That's kinda cute!

Actually, I think Mischa in Russian is a male name - short for Michael. A Russian doctor I know just adopted a flame point himmie and named him that.

Well they told me I had to bring her back for her rabies shot b/c she still had baby teeth and she has to have adult teeth to get a rabies shot? News to me, but idk. But also b/c she is so small. She was the same size as kittens they said were 2 months old. Guess we'll just wait and see when I take her back to get her shots on the fourth.

Another thing she has been sneezing a lot. Is this normal? No discharge from eyes or nose, that I can tell. Could she be allergic to my dog?

I would call her Autumn. She looks like an autumn color, and my red tabbies have always had a scent to their fur that smelled like autumn in the air.
She is a cutie pie!

I would say "Punkin" She is a pretty little girl. My Rusty is female but thinks she is a boy! Her sister, dusty, also has a broken/deformed tail. I think it was broken at the base at birth and she has a little hook at the end of her tail. She is tiny too.

I think I'm narrowing the name search down.......maybe. Right now I'm juggling..Token, Skitso (b/c at night she kinda goes nuts), Kinky and an Egyptian name that I haven't found yet
. I was thinking Egyptian because when she sits up and you can see her front legs she has two dark stripes on each front leg that reminds me of the Egyptian women who wore bangles on there upper arms. However, haven't found anything yet. Part of the problem is that I want my 2 yr old to be able to pronounce it or at least try.
