Oily furminator?

I ordered the furminator from Amazon and it arrived today. It looked to be properly packaged and the brush had a plastic cover. When I removed the cover, the steel brush was oily. The oily residue did not have color nor odor. Does the brush come pre-oiled?

To put into context it was very hot and humid today and when I opened the package, the brush was very warm after sitting in the outside mailbox for a few hours.

Possibly mineral oil to keep moisture off the metal bits.....rust preventative. Would guess you just wipe if off and use the thing

Thanks SK. Thought it was something to do with rusting but wanted to double check.
