Hey everybody! I'm new here, found this site really helpful (:

I have a question about Bengals as when I move out *and have to leave my darling cats with my mum*, I was thinking of getting one, so I'm not lonely in my new apartment (:

What are their temperaments like? I won't be using it for show. Are they okay with being on their own? Or do they prefer having another cat for company? I'll be in during most of the day (:

Thankyou! <3

IMO Bengals (like Ocicats) don't like being only cats. They are very active and would get bored easily if you didn't have a playmate. A bored Bengal is a naughty Bengal as they will create their own "fun".

I think I'd adopt a laid back young adult cat (tabby) rather then getting a Bengal at this time.

I agree with this completely, with the exception being that there are a few Bengals out there that NEED to be an "only cat."

You might look into a rescued Bengal through the Bengal Cat Rescue network and get an older one that needs to be an only cat. Do your research and be prepared to spend a great deal of time playing with the cat every single day, and you might find one that can be happy living with you.

And I agree with Betsy's post. There are some bengals, especially retired breeders that would do best in a single cat home and be the perfect pet.
